Biography
Dr. Diana Yusupov began studying cello at the age of eight with her father, Renat Yusupov. She was accepted into the Bachelor of Music program at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music at just 15 years old, studying with the renowned cellist and teacher, Markus Stocker. During her studies at the Queensland Conservatorium Diana was awarded first prize in Piatti Competition, Basil Jones Sonata Prize, Bach Competition and Concerto Competition. She participated in masterclasses with Peter Burns, Steven Isserlis and Jian Wang and graduated with the Academic Excellence Award.

By nineteen Diana completed her Bachelor’s of Music at Queensland Conservatorium of Music and went on to obtain a Graduate Diploma in education from the University of Southern Queensland. She spent the next five years building a strings program and teaching general music classes both in elementary and high school programs in Australia. This experience cultivated Diana's love for teaching music.

In 2016 Diana returned to performance, taking the position as the cellist of Quartet Lyrique at the University of Arizona. The dynamic ensemble enjoyed success both in US and overseas. In 2018 the group won silver prize at the Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition. The ensemble went on to perform at Vancouver Summer Music Festival in Vancouver, B.C., Dali String Quartet Festival in Philadelphia, PA., Saint Lawrence String Quartet Intensive in Stanford University, CA., and in Encore Music Festival in Cleveland, OH. The group gave a recital tour through parts of China performing at Sias International University and Wuhan Conservatory of Music.

As a soloist, Diana won the first prize in Frances Walton Competition in Seattle, which led her to embark on a recital tour of Washington in 2019. She graduated with her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona, where she was the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award, String Prize and winner of Concerto Competition.

Diana is a dedicated teacher and enjoys teaching both cello and ensemble lessons. Diana's students have been successful in winning orchestra positions, concerto competitions and college auditions. Teaching is Diana's greatest passionan and she strives to create meaningful learning experiences for her students that not only allow them to succeed as musicians, but to continually grow in their love of music.
